Panel Saw: Part 3
Written by Ken Kyler
Saturday, 04 November 2006

It has been a loooong time since I started the panel saw project.  Life got in the way.  In Part 3, I correct the design error/misread plans; make and attach the pulleys and pulley bracket; and make and attach a counter-balance.

Here's where I left off in Part 2.  The frame was built and painted.  The folding legs attached and the saw mounted.  As you recall, I "misread" my modified plans and made the base 2" too narrow.

Shaper Fence Replacement
Written by Ken Kyler
Monday, 23 October 2006

I've never been happy with the split fence that came with my Grizzly G1035 1-1/2 HP Shaper.  The fence slides were not coplanar and I could never quite get the face of the fence parallel.  This resulted in a slight amount of snipe.

I debated taking the fence to a local machinist and having the slides made coplanar but decided it would be cheaper to replace it.  After a lot of research, I settled on the Freud SH-5 Router Table Fence.
